Map of rowing route

Place the boat in the water with the bow pointing towards Lakeside (see map). Leave the shore pointing initially in that direction then turn, when safe to do so, towards the opposite shore. When rowing towards the main part of the lake, stay close to the opposite shore. When returning to the shore, approach close to the Tinaburra side travelling towards Lakeside.

As a guide, always row closer to the bank on your left-hand side.

Rowing Protocols & Safety

The club has a manual that details club policies and rules. Some important points to note are:

  • Sign the attendance book.
  • Rowers are encouraged to wear the fluoro orange club hats (available for purchase).
  • Rowers must follow the above indicated direction of travel, especially in the inlet close to the shed, being mindful of other water users.
  • In low visibility (& in fog) use lights and be extra cautious.
  • Wear socks.
  • Wear shoes when water levels are low and conditions are muddy.

The boats & boat safety

  • Boats and oars are very valuable.
  • Read the manual to get familiar with boat handling protocols.
  • Wash equipment after use.
  • Carry oars with the blades in front of you and don’t lean the oars against the building.
  • Check the equipment and report any loose or damaged parts to a captain of boats.
